In some recent work with adult education programs, I've been discussing retention and attrition. One of the most common reasons I hear about student attrition is 'the student lacked motivation', so I want to open a discussion to hear your thoughts about student motivation.
- Is motivation a 'real' barrier for student completion, or
- Is this 'deficit' thinking - holding the student accountable for a misunderstood concept of motivation.
