Disability and the Digital Divide: Internet Subscriptions, Internet Use and Employment Outcomes

This brief examines several questions that can shed light on the status of the disability digital divide and how it may relate to disability employment. How do the employment outcomes of workers with and without disabilities compare based on home internet subscription type and home internet use? How do Americans with and without disabilities compare in the types of home internet subscription they have and the computing devices that are available at home? How do Americans with and without disabilities compare in their use of internet for various purposes? This brief assesses: the associations of disability status, home internet subscription types and home internet use with individuals’ employment retention during the COVID-19 pandemic.
