Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) has evolved as a dynamic partner in developing and implementing customized training programs with community colleges and businesses that actively engage job-seekers with disabilities. Partnerships with community colleges, businesses, and training providers help prepare VR clients for competitive employment in high-demand industries.
A recent survey of technical assistance needs from VR agencies regarding business engagement and supports, customized training, and labor market information. From this assessment, they learned that state VR agencies want guidance around implementing Registered Apprenticeships, developing new certificate programs, and creating formal or informal partnerships with community colleges.

These practice examples focus on how VR and community college partnerships were established and maintained, and how VR and community colleges engage businesses in the development and implementation of customized training programs.
