LINCS member, AnneMarie Molinari-Sanders, shared the 2023 letter from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Civil Rights, focusing on the "Department of Education’s ongoing efforts to address barriers that prevent people with disabilities from participating in online services, programs, and activities that colleges, universities, and other postsecondary institutions make available to students and the public".
AnneMarie notes that, "this letter addressed the 100-plus audits that took place across various educational entities across the U.S. This indicates the seriousness of implementing accessibility policy within educational institutions including our field, adult education, and literacy."
What are your thoughts on this letter and what it means for the adult education field? How can the Learners with Disabilities group support programs in better addressing existing barriers to online, post-secondary learning. Feel free to post a comment in our community.
