Restoring the Right to Vote

A recent radio story on National Public Radio (NPR), highlighted the struggle of tens of thousands of Americans with disabilities have lost their voting rights, which happens when a court assigns a legal guardian to handle a person with disabilities affairs. The story, which can be read or listened to here, highlights the fight to get back those rights by some in the disability community.

Do you know someone who has lost their right to vote based on an intellectual, or cognitive-related disability?  States have different processes for restoring voting rights, but a good place to begin looking for information about the person's rights is DisabilityJustice.org's voting rights page.

November is right around the corner; help your learners get out the vote!
