Calling vs emailing or texting learners

Hello colleagues, I'm finding that calling learners to stay in touch has real benefits, particularly during this challenging time. The personal connection of a phone call means a lot and can make a difference in how a learner feels about returning to class. I came across an article by Aishwarya Manjunath recently that highlights how making a phone call to a student more readily conveys warmth compared to texting or emailing.

I think a lot about the students who have still not been able to return to class since March for a wide range of legitimate reasons. I want to redouble my efforts to reach them by phone. What has your experience been when reaching out to learners?

Take care, Susan Finn Miller
