Discussion Week of Dec. 6 -- Evidence-based Strategies to Address Learner Persistence

Hello colleagues, Persistence has long been a challenge in adult basic education programs, and in many places the the pandemic has exacerbated the problem. Next week, we'll take up this issue with guest host, Mary Edith Leichliter., an experienced adult basic education teacher, professional develper, and administrator. You are invited to share your persistence challenges and solutions during this discussion. 

What questions regarding retention issues would you like Mary Edith and your colleagues here to discuss?

I'm looking forward to learning about some persistence approaches that have beeen successful.

Mary Edith Leichliter's Bio:

Mary Edith Leichliter has years of experience as an ABE/HSE teacher in adult basic education. She has also served as a professional development specialist and led a team of ABE/GED teachers in a year-long effort focused on persistence. Teachers who implemented the persistence strategies saw significant improvement in attendance. Mary Edith is currently a supervisor in a local adult basic education program in Pennsylvania.
