Evidence-based tips for online teaching

Hello colleagues, As I continue to teach remotely, I am interested, as I know many of you are, in learning what makes for effective online instruction. Youki Terada has summarized the research and offers the following tips.

The evidence-based tips include:

  1. Keep your online class organized
  2. Chunk lessons into small, digestible pieces
  3. Solicit learner feedback regularly
  4. Annotate to scaffold learning
  5. Administer low-stakes quizzes frequently
  6. Connect with learners to address isolation
  7. Take care of yourself

You are invited to share your thoughts related to this list of tips and to tell us how you address any one of these in your own classroom.

Take care, Susan Finn Miller
