This session on Governance, Leadership and Building a Strategic Board is the second webinar in the Act Now Series, hosted by the Employment and Training Administration (ETA). Implementing WIOA requires effective leadership and the support of partners in the public and private sectors.  Board leaders are working with WIOA stakeholders to implement strategies that align programs and provide high quality service to employers and the workforce.  During this session we will consider how state and local leaders can attain program alignment, strengthen operations and support career pathways, talent development, and sector strategies.

The panel features at least one local board member or director and one state board member or director.  They will take questions and describe how they prepared for WIOA, the opportunities and the challenges in the legislation and what changes they foresee in operations, service delivery, and outcomes.

The Audience:

  • State and Local Workforce Leaders

The Presenters:

  • Joe Barela, Senior Advisor, Employment and Training Administration, U.S. Department of Labor
  • David L. Hollars, Executive Director Centralina Workforce Development Board, Charlotte, N.C.
  • Local WIB Director/Member
  • State WIB Director/Member
