Next week begins a series of expert-led webinar events on What’s Happening in State Professional Development. Join us for these focused examinations of what different states are doing in adult literacy professional development.

Featured presenters will share their work, explore successes and challenges, and dive into pressing issues in supporting basic skills educators need to effectively deliver quality instruction.

Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 3 p.m. EDT: What’s Happening in State Professional Development Part 1, hosted by the Evidence-Based Professional Development (EBPD) group. Register now!

Subject matter experts William Durden (WA), Nancy Gaj (NC), and Cynthia Wilson (WA) will present state models for designing adult literacy professional development programs, explore necessary teaching skills to deliver quality instruction, and share insights from team teacher trainings and PD with integrated contextualized instruction.

Monday, February 9, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. EDT: What’s Happening in State Professional Development Part 2, hosted by the Evidence-based Professional Development group. Register now!

Special guests Dr. Debra Hargrove, Federico Salas-Isnardi, and Dr. Glenda Rose will discuss Texas’ work in implementing a new professional development delivery system – consisting of tiers where training topics are divided into Core, Performance Enhancing, and National Events. Then, Nancy Dionne will share information surrounding Maine’s PD system, its development, and how it leverages its unique Professional Development Portal.

These webinars will be hosted by EBPD SME Jackie Taylor, and presented by state representatives. We hope you will join us for both of these events!
