Report: Supporting Men of Color in Community Colleges: An Examination of Promising Practices and California Student Equity Plans

Hello MSCCA members!

On April 14th, the Center for Urban Education (CUE) and the Community College Equity Assessment Lab (CCEAL) hosted the Equity Institute for Men of Color in Community Colleges. Over 90 participants from 21 community colleges attended the one-day event.

The institute was the culmination of a project funded by the College Futures Foundation (CFF). Research conducted by CCEAL and CUE, with lead researchers Frank Harris III (CCEAL), J. Luke Wood (CCEAL), Eric Felix (CUE), and Estela Mara Bensimon (CUE) is detailed in the report "Supporting Men of Color in Community Colleges: An Examination of Promising Practices and California Student Equity Plans." The report provides an overview of efforts by the California community colleges to redress structural and systemic challenges facing boys and men of color.
