Formative Assessment Micro Group Syllabus


Micro group members must be working with students in order to use the online tools in their teaching.  Your “classroom” can be brick and mortar OR online.


This micro group will engage practitioners in meaningful, job-embedded professional development which integrates formative assessment and technology. The micro group will result in a catalogue of digital resources focused on formative assessment tools that can be shared publicly.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Engage practitioners in a meaningful Community of Practice.
  2. Provide the field with a catalogue of annotated digital resources focused on formative assessment tools.
  3. Help educate the field about formative assessment via the reviews of the tools.
  4. Share the completed catalogue of resources with members of the broader community.

Timeframe:  January through April, 2016

Events:  Introductory webinar Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 EST

Member Tasks:

  • Micro group members will each use and review 3 tools over the course of 3 months.
  • Reviews will be submitted using an online form.
  • Reviews will include personal experiences and uses of each tool.
  • Members are encouraged to contribute online tools that they have discovered and/or used.
