Research Brief: FIVE CRITICAL FACTS - About Men of Color and Food Insecurity in Community Colleges

Hello all!

The Community College Equity Assessment Lab (CCEAL) is proud to release a new research brief titled, "FIVE CRITICAL FACTS - About Men of Color and Food Insecurity in Community Colleges". This brief was co-authored by Drs. J. Luke Wood and Frank Harris III, Co-Directors of CCEAL.

This brief answers key questions about food insecurity among men of color, including:

  • What groups are most likely to be exposed to food insecurity?
  • How does food insecurity influence student success?
  • What degree of stress is associated with food insecurity?
  • What other types of insecurities do food insecure students experience?
  • What types of courses are students with food insecurity concentrated in?

The brief series is designed to inform practitioners and researchers about emerging findings relevant to the success of men of color in community colleges. The series is supported by the National Consortium on College Men of Color (NCCMC).
