APPLY NOW for the Teaching the Skills that Matter in Adult Education Project

We’re excited to announce the application period is now open for the next training opportunity for Teaching the Skills That Matter in Adult Education (TSTM) project. Applications from State Directors of Adult Education (or appropriate designees) are due on or before May 18.

Teaching the Skills That Matter in Adult Education (TSTM) is an OCTAE national activity run by the American Institutes for Research (AIR).  TSTM training provides adult education teachers the ability to teach the skills that matter for adult learners - those ‘everyday’ skills people need to function well in the workforce and in civic and community life - in the topics of civic education, digital literacy, financial literacy, health literacy and workforce preparation, using approaches that work.

We are currently looking for the nomination of five participants from 20 states (four teachers and a state professional development representative for each state) to participate in the second and third cohorts of this project. Teachers will get training and on-site coaching over a period of 8 months (late summer 2020 through spring 2021). They will learn ready-to-use, practical teaching strategies to help their students gain critical transferable skills that matter for their overall success.

We look forward to your state participating in the next TSTM cohorts. If you have any questions, please contact the project at tstm@air.org.
