Digital Toolbelt: Digital Tools for Adult Education Instructors (new micro-group)

Congress passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. Greater technological integration in the classroom will help close the skills gap and develop a strong 21st-century workforce. Adult basic education (ABE) instructors need a “Digital Toolbelt,” an easily accessible set of EdTech tools that can be used alone or in combination to improve instruction.

In four weeks, the LINCS Community will offer a great learning opportunity for ABE instructors to engage in an eight-week micro-group led by Ed Latham, an expert in integrating technology into instruction. Latham will offer basic instruction on using various EdTech tools and provide recommendations for integrating those tools in ways practical to most classrooms.

After each session, participants will be able to create a classroom tool, resource, or learning activity that incorporates session skills and will be able to complete a skills self-assessment to identify which skills may be more challenging to present to students.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Interested participants should contact Ed Latham at ohgeer@gmail.com. He will provide information on how to register.

Individuals requiring special accommodations please call 301-828-1526 or email scoleman@manhattanstrategy.com 10 days in advance of the registration deadline and we will do our best to assist you.

Thanks,

The LINCS Team
