Teaching Language and Literacy Through Meaningful Content (Webinar)

On Monday, February 6, from 4-5 p.m. (ET), the Adult English Language Learners group will host Teaching Language and Literacy Through Meaningful Content. The one-hour webinar will be led by Dr. Doreen Ewert, Associate Professor and Director of the Academic English for Multilingual Students Program at the University of San Francisco. Dr. Ewert will outline the many benefits of focusing language and literacy instruction on relevant content and will demonstrate numerous practical techniques and learning tasks for making content the focus of instruction. The webinar will cover a variety of content-engaging classroom tasks that meet certain literacy and language learning research-based criteria and that can be implemented at all levels of language proficiency.

This event will be particularly useful to ESL instructors and teachers, who will gain practical tools for introducing content in the adult ESL classroom. Curriculum developers and professional development instructors will also gain practical information through the webinar and discussion.
