The National Study of the Implementation of Adult Education – Provider Survey Fall 2019

Adult education program directors — make your voices heard by participating in this important study!

The U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES), under funding from the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) is conducting a Congressionally-mandated national study to learn more about how state and local adult education programs are providing services under the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA), Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The national implementation study is part of the National Assessment of Adult Education and is being conducted by the American Institutes for Research (AIR).

A key component of this study is the Provider Survey, which will be administered online. The Provider Survey presents an opportunity for adult education programs to take part in the first national study of adult education in over a decade. It will help Congress and adult education stakeholders understand how the changes promoted by WIOA are being implemented. Findings from the study will provide the field with insights into the diversity of adult education providers funded under AEFLA, the services they provide, and the challenges they face in providing those services. Understanding these challenges may stimulate and inform discussions about technical assistance needs at the local, state, and national levels.

Provider Survey Details

  • Data from the survey will help describe how programs were implementing adult education and what challenges they were experiencing as of Program Year 2018-19.
  • Local adult education program directors in the 50 states and the District of Columbia will be surveyed.
  • AIR will reach out directly to eligible programs in early October with more information.
  • The survey link will be sent to program directors in mid-October.
  • The survey will take an average of 30 minutes to complete.
