I have struggled with this question for a couple of days. Being in the classroom means we connect real world information to the learning experience. My question to this group is how do you approach this topic? If you do, what resources are you using in the classroom?

Surely, members here have a take on this issue. Let's hear from you. This is not the time to be silent! Leecy
Kathy, as events have developed after you posted this prompt, I wonder about the following:
1. What do others here think of Obama's speech at the event yesterday?
2. Could adult ed instructors and students be doing more to educate their communities on violence, especially that occurring through racial and gender issues? If so, what suggestions can you offer?
3. Are there resources available at low reading levels that deal with the above violence issues? If so, please share them!
4. What do you consider to be the root of the violence that is taking place? Can that root be cut or weakened in our society? If so, how? Let's talk about this.
Thanks! Leecy
