Examining Student Work in Teams

Hello Colleagues, Carefully examining student work to provide feedback to learners and to guide next steps in teaching is obviously important to teachers. I’ve long been interested in the potential of having groups of teachers examine student work together to learn from and to support one another.

Follow this Teaching Channel link to explore the issue of teachers working in a team to examine students’ mathematics work https://www.teachingchannel.org/videos/inquiry-protocol-nvps?utm_source=Teaching+Channel+Newsletter&utm_campaign=a429fb3714-Newsletter_May_31_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_23c3feb22a-a429fb3714-291757493

I’m wondering if teachers in our community have engaged in this type of inquiry with colleagues to examine student work. If so, how has this worked for you? If not, would you be interested in working in a team to examine student work? What do you see as the benefits?

I’ve thought this is something we might be able to do as part of our online learning community.  Thoughts?

Cheers, Susan
