Live Classes via Facebook

I use Live Streaming to present lessons in my various groups. For example, my own Facebook groups include: pronunciation, grammar, readings and pumarosa. There are in total about 5000 members. I also belong to several teachers' groups, some of which have over 20,000 members.

Membership is free and open to anyone.

I usually post the text of the lesson alongside the video, and then show the lesson from the textbook.

One good thing about Facebook streaming is that you can see how many "visits" the video gets, and then because it stays as a video, it continues to get visits.

Today I am going to show how Pumarosa works on my Tablet. I will also show how the students can use their Smart Phones to access all kinds of lessons. Songs, for example, are very popular, and I will "teach" a song! Then sing it!!!

One way to create an interactive class with the students using live streaming is for a teacher to project the lesson onto a screen while talking with the  "remote" teacher on a smart phone attached to a loud speaker.

In my opinion the use of Facebook in this way will be very important to "Bridging the Digital Divide".

Well, I urge everybody to use live streaming - it is not only a good educational tool it is ...fun!!!!!
