New Community of Practice Moderator

Hello, Career Pathways Group Members,

I want to take a minute to introduce myself as the new moderator for the Career Pathways community of practice.  I am excited to be joining you as LINCS continues to grow and develop its community and resources for adult education and workforce development practitioners.

In addition to working with LINCS, I am a Career and Technical Education Resource Specialist with Arlington Public Schools (VA). I have fifteen years of classroom and administrative experience in public and charter schools, as well as non-profit educational organizations in the Washington, DC region. I began my career in education teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, in both higher education and community-based settings, and continue to volunteer as a conversation partner with international students.

Each of you brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our group, and I look forward to getting to know you, and learn as a member of this diverse and talented community.  I welcome your comments and suggestions for making our collaboration a meaningful and productive part of your weekly schedule.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me in the coming days and introduce yourself, and your work.  The more that I learn about each of you, the better able I will be to advocate for our needs as a community, and work towards the goal of expanding our collective resources, knowledge and opportunities.

Good afternoon,

It is a pleasure to meet you. I am the curriculum specialist for the Department of Labor grant at Amarillo College. I'm trying to get my email under control (unfortunately I need a BIGGER shovel...perhaps even a backhoe) and have several emails and postings that I needed to follow up on...it has been just a tad busy, as I am sure it has been for everyone!

I am getting ready to co-present at the NCPN conference next month as well as all the other things that seem to pile up (including looking at new graduate programs for myself).

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to further collaboration.

Regards,

Marissa

Marissa, thanks for sharing your introduction with the community.  We're happy that you're joining us, and look forward to learning more about your work.     I am curious to hear about your presentation at the National Career Pathways Network (NCPN).  Please feel free to share what you will be presenting with us, when time allows.

Again, welcome!
