Summary of April Topics Addressed in Our R&W Community

Among several very relevant topics discussed, which ones caught your attention the most in April in our Reading and Writing Community? You are invited to continue to contribute your thoughts in previously-developed and new threads coming up in May! Following are two of our most popular topics covered in April:

  1. Integrating/Contextualizing Academic Skills - Our COABE 2018 conference offered us (over 3,000 participants!) a feast with many delicious learning opportunities. WIOA’s Integrated Education and Training (IET) sessions supported one of the six topics listed for us to address in our R&W community: Learning in Context. Several of you among our nearly 400 thread viewers last month contacted me to access the PowerPoint presentation with numerous links that I offered at COABE on IET. I am still glad to send you the link to those resources IF you promise to contribute to this thread and its development. Drop me a note at leecywise@gmail.com.

  2. Our TABE 11/12 Vocabulary thread evolved around a posted thought:I'm wondering if anyone has resource suggestions in terms of vocabulary in regards to TABE 11/12.” We had several rich resources posted by members who also share helpful ideas on this popular topic. Feel free to revisit this thread and add to what has been shared by others!

Other topics were also discussed in April: Writing Rubrics for Your Consideration, COABE Reading Month resources, 10 Reading Strategies That Support Comprehension, Teaching Reading 1, 2, 3 - The Order Matters, and CrowdED Learning—Here are a BUNCH of CCRS and TABE 11/12 Aligned Resources! Select the Reading and Writing Discussions link in the menu listed on the left  our home page, and click on those topics that most appeal. Let’s keep talking.

Thanks to all who have made contributions to help us strengthen this professional community of lifelong learners! All discussions in our LINCS communities remain open and invite you to continue to visit each thread to add your comments and views to our continuing dialogues.  Leecy
