What happens to literacy when the internet turns into a giant TV station?

Colleagues,

Have videos and images threatened print literacy? Here's an interesting article that deals with this question.

What are your experiences? What have you seen with your students? Is YouTube now their search engine of choice? (Have you asked them what their preferred searching engine of choice is? If not, please do and let us know. Also ask them if they are reading more now online and in text messages.) If young adults have shifted into a primarily online reading mode, what are the implications of this for how adult basic education teachers teach?

Looking forward to hearing from lots of you here!
