Obama Administration Approval for Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Strategy

On July 12, the Obama Administration, directed by the Cybersecurity National Action Plan and 2017 Budget, released the first-ever Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Strategy.

This strategy is directed at implementing efforts to "identify, recruit, develop, retain, and expand the pipeline of the best, brightest, and most diverse cybersecurity talent for Federal service and for our Nation", according to the White House blog post.

Part of this strategy includes a targeted career pathway opportunity called CyberCorps.  CyberCorps: Scholarship For Service is designed to increase and strengthen federal information professionals.  This program provides scholarships for full-time students attending a participating institutions, including tuition and related fees. Additionally, participants receive stipends of $22,500 for undergraduate students and $34,000 for graduate students. These scholarships are funded through grants awarded by the National Science Foundation.
