The Graduate School at Penn State is pleased to announce the Dean’s Distinguished Graduate Scholarship (DDGS) program. Prospective students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who will contribute to diversity in graduate education at the institution. This award is intended for entering (new to the University in 2019-20) Ph.D. students.

The five-year award include an annual stipend (currently $30,000), tuition grant-in-aid, and a student health insurance premium subsidy. The first year is a fellowship with no assigned duties, whereas years two through five entail a half-time (20-hour per week) assistantship.
The Graduate School will begin the first administrative reviews on December 1, 2018 and will continue reviews on a rolling basis through April 15, 2019 or until all seats are filled. To be nominated for the award, prospective students should apply to the Ph.D. program.
