Earth Day Plans!

 

Did you know that Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970?  Former Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin wanted upset that environmental issues were not being addressed in politics or in the media.  About 20 million people from across the United States celebrated that first Earth Day, which lead to the creation of several grassroots organizations that focus on protecting our Mother Earth.  Unlike Arbor Day which was established in the 1800s, the focus went beyond conservation and appreciation of nature.
