Reminder: Coffee Break Being Held Tuesday July 28 at 3 PM ET

Dear Colleagues,

Adult education programs and schools have been working hard to shift to and sustain online instruction in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We invite you to join the Reading & Writing (https://community.lincs.ed.gov/group/25) and Teaching & Learning (https://community.lincs.ed.gov/group/30) groups for a Coffee Break discussion on Tuesday July 28, 2020 3-4pm ET. LINCS Moderators will lead a conversation to share ideas and lessons learned focused on moving instruction online. Participant engagement and interaction is highly encouraged, feel free to come with questions and solutions to share. If you would like to ask a question to be discussed during the coffee break, please post it here in the community.

Thanks so much,

Yesterday during the LINCS coffee break, I mentioned I would post a newsletter article I wrote back in late April called "What's Trending in Distance Reading Instruction?" The link to the article is here: https://atlasabe.org/news/whats-trending-in-distance-reading-instruction/  There are similarities and differences between our conversation and the article. BTW: The Schoology Groups are specific to MN ABE practitioners and will be changing in the future.

We really appreciate you posting this wonderful resource Marn!  Thanks for all you added to the coffee break discussion too.  You and your Minnesota colleagues gave us the idea for the coffee breaks in the first place.  We are grateful for all you do to advance the field.

My best to you,

Steve

Ann, we definitely missed your ideas and enthusiasm at the coffee break in late July! In case you missed the two part summary I did of the discussion, you can find it here.

The coffee break was one of the best events I have been part of during my eight years as a LINCS community member. I would love to do another one in the fall after everyone is settled back into their regular class routine. When we are able to do another coffee break, we will certainly let the community know.

Thanks so much for your suggestion, Ann.

Happy Learning!

I have no idea what my situation will feel like.   I'm planning to go into campus -- we have some online, some F2F classes and I'm in the support lab.  Normally I'd be doing a lot of math tutoring, and general "walk-in help" -- but they've gutted student support here (we are bearing the brunt of "financial necessities")  so I may be extremely busy ... or not ;)

Painfully often, I duck into my office and oops!! I really wanted to go to that thing that ended an hour ago... but if I can get into the habit things stick...
