Live Session: Empowering Refugee Learners: Strategies for Facilitating Job Attainment through Adult Education

Description: Adult educators strive to support job attainment for refugees and foster long-term integration into the workforce. Join our presenter Ahu Moser with the Maryland Department of Labor to learn practical approaches, challenges, and key takeaways for long-term integration of refugees into the workforce.

Live Session: Texas Apprenticeship Model for Individuals with Disabilities

Description:  Join us to learn about the Texas Supported Apprenticeship Model for Individuals with Disabilities. Participants will learn how the Texas Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with employers to develop multiple career pathways for adults with varying disabilities to enter paid internships leading to life-sustaining, long-term employment opportunities. Monty Chamberlain and Glenn Heath with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services will offer lessons learned and considerations for other states and jurisdictions considering supported apprenticeship models.

Live Session: The Formula for Succeeding in Math Behind the Walls

Description: One of the most feared subjects for adult learners is “Math.” Learning and teaching math behind the walls of prison and jails poses an even greater challenge due to limited resources, no internet access, few books, and scarce aids. Join us for this interactive event where we will discuss what works when teaching adult learners math in the carceral setting.  We welcome you to share resources, teaching methods, curriculum, and educational tools.
